A Very Sincere Thank You – Pixel Pulse Radio

0

Over Halloween weekend, I experienced quite a sobering moment. A fantastic moment, albeit sobering. If you’re reading this, you know that Brandon and I launched Pixel Pulse Radio on this past weekend on Hallow’s Eve. This is our first podcast, so we were naturally apprehensive on launch day. We authored and stressed over so many questions: Will our episodes be buried in the endless sea that is iTunes? Who is going to listen? How will people find us? Are we going to receive terrible feedback? Will people like us?

It seems so silly to worry over such things, but we did.

Despite these thoughts, I soon experienced the aforementioned moment in which I realized how lucky I was. How lucky we were. Throughout the weekend, Brandon and I received a plethora of texts, tweets, and personal messages. So many of you came out of the woodwork to support us – and we could not be more grateful.

Friday afternoon we broke into iTunes’ Top 100. By evening we had landed at rank #63. Saturday we broke into iTunes’ New and Noteworthy section. On Sunday evening you awesome people got us on the front page of iTunes’ main Games and Hobbies category. It was truly an amazing experience to see Pixel Pulse Radio sit proudly, yet humbly, next to podcasts that I would be considered to be masterful. It was truly amazing.

As I write this, on Monday evening, we are sitting at rank 68. Now, don’t get me wrong, I largely think numbers and ranks are trivial. However, they do serve a purpose. They serve as a tool. A tool which describes our community. They describe a community that is engaged, interested, and passionate. They describe a community that I am excited to be a part of.

Tomorrow, PPR could very well fall into the abyss. Regardless of our rankings or download numbers, I am incredibly thankful for you. We couldn’t do this without you. You are gracious and amazing friends.

-Alex
