Microsoft’s E3 Conference Broken Down by Adam Brenn


Since this week is one of the most important weeks for any hardcore gamer, we figured we would run down the highlights from the Microsoft E3 press conference.


Xbox One S

Xbox One S Console Vertical Right Angle

Microsoft started off their conference with a hardware announcement. They came right out the gate with a sleeker and beautiful looking Xbox One, named Xbox One S. The new Xbox One S features HDR and 4K video support. It is also 40% smaller than the original Xbox One that was released 3 years ago. The Xbox One S, will launch in August 2016 for $300.00usd.


Microsoft also announced Xbox Design Labs. This is going to be a place where you can design your own Xbox One controller. The controller will be modeled after the Xbox One S controller with its texture backing. The price point is $79.99 or $80 if you want the controller engraved.

None of these hardware announcements compared to the final announcement of the night. At the end of the conference, Phil Spencer officially announced the Xbox Project Scorpio, dated for holiday next year (2017).


Along with hardware, Microsoft also mentioned new features coming to Xbox Live, such as Clubs, Looking For Group, and Arena. Games were also announced at Microsft’s conference.

Recore, a game that looks incredible and has been in the works for some time now. We finally got to see some gameplay and let’s just say, it looks like a lot of fun. The art direction is great, the audio works seems to be well done, and we can’t wait to see more of this game and hope to hear a release date soon.

Gears of War 4, finally got some story footage. Nothing seems to be much different from previous games and that’s okay for those who are into the series. They also confirmed Horde Mode 3.0, which is a fan favorite from previous games.

Forza Horizon 3, was officially announced showing off some of the incredible ways to the play the game whether it’s on PC or Xbox One. The game takes place in Australia. Now in Forza, you can play co-op campaign and it simply just drops your friends in seamlessly. The release date announced is September 27, 2016.

Halo Wars 2, got a new trailer.Halo Wars’ cinematic takes our breath away each time. There wasn’t much shown for the game but there is a beta live during the week of E3 for those who are interested over on the Xbox store on both Xbox One and Windows 10. We can expect Halo Wars 2 out by February 21, 2016.

Let’s talk Zombies quickly. We got to see State of Decay 2 and Dead Rising 4. State of Decay was loved by many and will continue to get that love. Dead Rising 4 showed off some cool new crazy things you can do in the world of Dead Rising. We can expect to see Dead Rising 4 this holiday.
