Hold onto your butts, people. Earlier this morning Nintendo announced the Super Nintendo Classic, which launches on September 29th for $79.99; and will host 21 of the best Super Nintendo games. Earthbound, Link to the Past, Super Punch-Out!!, and Super Mario World headline what may be the greatest line-up of video games – ever. Owners of the new console will be able to play a finalized version of the unreleased Star Fox 2, which unlocks after players beat the first level of the original Star Fox. The fun-sized SNES Classic comes packaged with two controllers, a charging cable, and an HDMI cable.
Here’s the full list of games featured on the system:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars™
  • Donkey Kong Country™
  • EarthBound™
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO™
  • Kirby™ Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course™
  • The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past™
  • Mega Man® X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox™
  • Star Fox™ 2
  • Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV™
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts®
  • Super Mario Kart™
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars™
  • Super Mario World™
  • Super Metroid™
  • Super Punch-Out!! ™
  • Yoshi’s Island™

The SNES Classic is the successor to Nintendo’s NES Classic, which released in Fall 2016 and subsequently fell victim to ceased production in early Spring 2017. If recent events repeat themselves, Nintendo’s newest mini-console will sell out incredibly fast. To avoid paying triple the market price on sites like eBay or Craigslist, we’d recommend pre-ordering the Super Nintendo Classic as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Update (11:27 AM PST): Per a conversation between Nintendo and Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, the SNES Classic will be more widely distributed than the company’s previous NES Classic. However, production of Nintendo’s new console will cease at the end of the year.
